Minutes of Board Meetings
Attendees: Tim Schroeder, Paul Hoyt, Amy Gallagher, Ted Schnaare and John Tuschner
Agenda:
Treasurer’s report
Lake Clean-up event
Lower MN East One Watershed Management Plan
Update on discussions with 3 Rivers Park District on funding assistance
Power Loading Discussion
3rd Party Plant Survey
Meeting called to order at 6:34. In attendance were Tim Schroeder, Amy Gallagher, Paul Hoyt, John Tuschner and Ted Schnaare. The library was unavailable for this month so meeting was held at Paul Hoyt’s garage instead.
Treasurer’s report: No statements yet for January, so no updated report, but we are up to date on all payments and have received our final payment from Scott County, approximately $205. Amy also filled out the paperwork for the state auditor’s office and submitted it this weekend.
Due to questionable ice safety, we will not be hosting a lake clean up event this spring. Amy will call Lakers to see if they will be donating a dumpster again this year. If so, it would be at the East launch from February 23 - March 4 for those who need to properly dispose of any trash that accumulated over the ice fishing season.
Lower MN East One Watershed District contacted us and asked us to comment on a draft of the Lower MN River East Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan. It is under a sixty day review. We agreed to read through the document so we are prepared to comment at our March meeting.
Tim Schroeder is continuing to follow up with contacts from Three Rivers Park district regarding potential participation in clear water efforts funding.
We had a discussion about “power loading” and the damage it can do to the launches. It causes more damage at the North Launch and it would be great to make people aware of this, but it would be hard to enforce any regulations.
We agreed to fund another private survey this year. There is value to having a few years of data to watch for patterns and trends. Amy will reach out to Blue Water Science and ask them for a 2024 bid and availability.
We began planning for the annual meeting, which is tentatively scheduled for Monday, April 8, 2024.
The meeting adjourned via motion from Paul Hoyt and seconded by John Tuschner. The next meeting is set for March 4th at 6:30 pm at the New Prague Public Library.
