Cedar Lake Improvement District meeting notes from September 10, 2013 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the New Prague Public Library Meeting Room -

Attendees: Mike Speltz, Tom Heide, Lowell Mohn, Dave Nielsen and Brad Eller

Agenda Items for discussion:

  • Update on by-laws
  • Review July plant survey and any new information concerning the excessive algae blooms this year.
  • Updates on Carp Seining
  • Treasures report (bills to be paid)

Lowell advised that he and Theresa were working on the by-laws and would have preliminary draft ready by our October meeting.

Tom advised of a preliminary report from Melissa on the lake plant survey. Overall, the results are good, natives are increasing in occurrence which is good for water quality and fish & wildlife food & habitat. Future surveys will determine whether a density reduction is occurring with CLP. The full survey is still pending final completion from the DNR.

Mike advised that Don Geyer the commercial fisherman will be attending our next meeting. Don is interested in seining for Carp in the winter if he can find them via sonar. He is not interested in seining during the fall season. Mike also suggested we request a fish population survey. Tom is going to check with Scott County WMO and the DNR to see what that would require and when the last one had been completed.

Mike presented the treasurer's report and no additional income or expenses were noted for the last month. Mike also advised that the 2014 levy application was completed and sent in to Scott County before the due date which was the end of August.

Next board meeting is October 8, 2013.
